Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in an area called Parkchester in Bronx, NY in St. Helena Parish. She has been a parishioner of St. Michael’s for 3 years. May has a PhD from Fordham University in Cytogenetics and she worked for 37 years at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA in Clinical Genetics. Before taking a Post Doc in Boston in 1975, she taught biology at Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, NY. Mary is one of a set of twins in a family of four children. Her parents, originally from Portland, OR, settled in NY because of jobs, her Mother as a Librarian in the NYC public library system and her Father as a draftsman at Otis Elevator Company headquarters. Mary is married to Brian Hennigan, a retired Clinical Social Worker. She enjoys classical music, reading, and swimming. When asked about what she likes about St. Michael’s, she replied, “the parish is forward looking in attitude and function and the involvement of parishioners in the liturgies and ministries is commendable.
