Pastoral Council Nominations

This spring, the St. Michael’s Pastoral Council will need 4 new members to replace those who are departing after faithful and dedicated
service. We thank Veronica Ciccarelli, Terri Kersch, Sean Robbins and Mary Sandstrom Hennigan for their service.
Service on the Pastoral Council calls for its members to respectfully listen to our whole parish community, to prayerfully listen to the Holy
Spirit for direction for the parish, and to then advise the Pastor and Parish Ministries on the best ways that we, as a Parish, can better fulfill our mission to build the Kingdom of God by imaging Christ in our world.

The only requirements for service on St. Michael’s Pastoral Council are to be a registered member of the Parish, have a love of our parish family, and to be open to listening to other people and the Holy Spirit. The Pastoral Council meets formally five times a year on set dates of the months of September, November, January, March, and May at 7 pm. In addition to attending the meetings, members are scheduled to make announcements, greet guests, answer questions, take comments, and encourage registration of new parishioners. Members are also expected to attend Parish events and assist with Parish activities whenever possible.

Over the next two weekends, we will conduct a process called NAMING for Pastoral Council membership. If you feel that you might be called to serve in this important ministry, or if you know someone whom you believe would be the right kind of person to serve on the Pastoral Council, please prayerfully consider filling out the form below and either placing it in the collection basket on the weekends of April 13-14, 20-21 and 27-28 or mailing it to Fr. Anthony Ligato by Monday, April 29, 2019. Those who are nominated will be invited to attend the final meeting of the Pastoral Council for this year on Tuesday, May 21 at 6 pm (a picnic supper meeting). At that time, any questions a nominee may have will be answered and he/she will be asked to decide on whether they want to be considered for a seat
on the Council.

Those who agree to the nomination will have their names placed in a box on the altar, and at weekend Masses a prayer to the Holy Spirit will be said by Fr. Anthony over the box of nominees. During the 10:15 am Mass on Sunday, June 16, 2019, four names will be drawn from the box, and announced to the congregation as our new Pastoral Council members.
