First World Day for the Poor
“Let us Love, not with words, but with Deeds” First World Day for the Poor Sunday November 19
Pope Francis established a new day in the Catholic Calendar, the “World Day for the Poor” to be marked on the 33 Sunday each year, and on this first year, Sunday November 19th. Pope Francis calls on all Christians around the world, to serve the poor with concrete actions that address their daily needs. Pope Francis saying that such service to the poor is “an imperative that cannot be ignored”! Here at St. Michael’s we reach out to our less fortunate neighbors, particularly working with the several agencies that help the poor in our area. On Sunday, November 19, at the 10:00am Mass, we are very grateful for Reverend Donna Elias, head of the “Troy Area United Ministries”, who will deliver the Homily. Following Mass, we will have a reception in the Church Hall where representatives of 10 area agencies have set up information tables. Please stop by, visit the agencies representatives, learn what they do to improve the lives of the poor, how you and your family can help. Coffee and breakfast pastries will be served. Please Come! Bring all your family!
